Let us take this time to clap for Jolaoluwa Aina (@mz_jollie) who demonstrated the importance of the #frownchallenge and #endcuttinggirls FGM/C abandonment campaign.

After www.bellanaija.com shared an FGM/C-related story that required urgent attention in Kwara State, @endcuttinggirls decided to work with #frownchallenge winner who coincidentally is based in kwara.

Let us remember she was trained as a Social Media Advocate on FGM/C abandonment at TINAPA, Calabar.
Well, Jolaoluwa Aina (frownchallenge winner for August) visited Alhaji Adebayo (a philanthropist) who supports parents who can not pay for their children’s circumcision (Both male and female) by organising “free-cutting” local outreaches.

She visited on behalf of @endcuttinggirls at about 11:00 a.m. she described Alhaji Adebayo as kind, receptive and ready to learn. She took time to sensitize on the risks involved in FGM/C.

The Alhaji explained he did all that out of ignorance and that henceforth he will not support such practice again based on the newly gained knowledge.

He took Jola to other compounds where FGM/C is regularly practiced. The Child Protection Network (CPN) in Kwara State also visited on the same mission. UNICEF will centrally coordinate a follow up and share updates here as we have them.
